![]() So in class, we began reading The Lady, or the Tiger, and if you didn't know, it's about a man who has to choose between two doors. Behind one door is a tiger, and behind the other is one of the most eligible women in the kingdom who he HAS to marry. The reason the man has to choose is because he was caught with the king's daughter, and the king wants to punish him. The princess knows what is behind each door, and she can tell the man. However, does she allow the man she loves to marry someone else, or simply kill him so that nobody else can have him? Unlike the rest of my class, I believe the princess decides to give him the woman because I don't think anyone can be that cruel. Also there's a bunch of textual evidence. This is also why I don't believe anyone in my class has any hope for humanity :) Till next time!

On Friday, I presented my Music As Poetry project! I had to present first, and I think I did okay. For this assignment, we had to choose 3 songs and find 5 examples of figurative language in each song. I chose the songs "My Shot" and "Right Hand Man" from the AMAZING Hamilton soundtrack, and the song "Bittersweet Tragedy" by Melanie Martinez. I found metaphors, similes, and other forms of figurative language, and I presented it to the class. If you feel like checking it out, click the link below.
Throughout the time of reading previous stories my class had discussions about what happened in each of the chapter. We would ask questions about events we didn't fully understand and we would exchange theories. It was actually really fun finding out what everyone thought would happen.. I had a couple of theories, and I would definitely say they came true throughout reading The Giver and Animal Farm. The Fishbowl discussions were unique because 7 of us would sit in a circle in the middle of the classroom, and talk about the books. Then when someone who wasn't in the circle wanted to add to the conversation they would get up, tap one of us, and switch seats. I really liked how Ms. Melendez set it up :)
![]() So after I WHOLE 2 weeks of consistent posting, I wasn't able to keep up my schedule on here. I kind of expected that to happen though to be honest. Anyway, I am back to tell you all about the recent progress on my utopia project! On Friday, my class got to choose what type of presentation we wanted to do! We were able to choose between making a board or a video to present our society. I'm still not entirely sure which one my group is going to do, but I'm looking forward to whichever one we end up choosing. Are you surprised or what? I've actually managed to keep up my schedule! Anyhow, my group has been working on our utopia, and honestly it's super fun. This is mostly because Kristenlee and Lorna are constantly disagreeing. I'd like to say that I'm the peacemaker, but that's not entirely true (it's not true at all). Anyway, we've completed the education, family, housing, employment, and money part of our society, and the next obstacle to conquer is (drumroll) deciding on a climate/environment! I really hope there are cats in our society. I really like cats. Anyway, that's all for now! Check out my Science page tomorrow at 4 pm Est. I'll be posting :)
Hey guys, my class started working on a really interesting project a couple days ago! We began to work in groups to create our very own Utopian society! We were able to choose whether we wanted our society to be ruled by a monarchy, a democracy, a dictatorship, etc. We then started with our first subject that will be established in our society. This was education. We chose classes that were mandatory for students to take and addressed other educational thing. The next subject is family, but we haven't gotten to that yet. I'll be sure to update you on that next Monday! Bye for now :)
P.S. Look out for my science post tomorrow! The Giver is based in a Utopian society where jobs are chosen for the community by the Elders. The Elders also choose spouses for everyone in the community. The couples are then given a child that isn't theirs. These children come from women who have the occupation of Birthmother. There are other occupations such as nurturers who take care of newborns before they are handed to a couple. Each couple can only have two children, one girl and one boy. This is the basic setup of a family unit.
My class started reading The Giver! It's this novel written by Lois Lowry about a Utopian society with a young boy named Jonas. So far, we have read up to chapter 10. I'm liking this book so far because it's cool to read about a society that's so different from ours. I'm also looking forward to watching the movie to determine whether it is a good adaptation of the book. I'll follow this post with a summary of everything that has happened so far in the book :)
We started watching the Animal Farm movie! My class was then given an assignment to write a review and create an essay to analyze the movie against the book. Even though, we didn't finish watching the entire movie, I still gist of it, and I wrote my essay! I really liked analyzing the book against the movie because a lot of movie adaptions don't live up to the book.
We started reading Animal Farm by George Orwell back in December, and I finally finished it. I actually really liked this book (especially the ending). I won't spoil anything because I'm not about that life but......
SPOILER ALERT: Napoleon turns into a human and has successfully brainwashed the animals. They don't suspect a thing. IT'S CRAZY! |
